Aa Gaya Hero

AA Gaya Hero Movie Review

March 16th, 2017

“AA Gaya Hero” is also known as Abhinay Chakra.

Our films star Govinda is a popular actor and comedian within the Bollywood film industry. Govinda is making a silly and successful comeback to the industry. He has been most successful in Bollywood films in the 80’s and 90’s. He even reunites with his favorite co-stars Raveena Tandon.

He made his start in the business as a street dancer. Govinda has even been in political office at one point being a part of Indian Parliament.

When the director Dipankar Senapati pitched the film’s storyline to him he jumped on board without any hesitation.

Our female star is the lovely Richa Sharma who was a former contestant in the Mrs. World contest. She was even awarded the title of Mrs. World.

Govinda and Salman Khan have great chemistry together as they have worked on previous films with each other.

A brave and unapologetic police officer terrifying for the local criminals. As Govinda says, “it’s about a cop who is acting and plays different roles to catch the criminals.”

The movie isn’t all comedy though it has a lighter feel which is included in some of the dance numbers as well.

The film has had a long time getting released. With a few rescheduling and the postponing of the release date. Initial filming started in 2013. Originally, the film was supposed to be released on August 29th, 2014. Then it was postponed for March 3rd of this year.  Finally, a release date was scheduled for March 16, 2017. Govinda wanted the shooting to be all in one setting. It worked out and that was the case shooting in a record number of 29 days.

Part of this postponement had to do with the star and the producer’s view of the story. Govinda didn’t like the way the initial story was going so he wrote a whole new one and then filming recommenced.

Govinda took full control of the movie by writing, starring, and even producing the film. He has gone to great lengths for this film to be a success. Even promoting on a comedy talk show. To further promote himself and his star he is set to open a chain of restaurants called Hero No. 1.  A little bit overboard I think but wish him luck nonetheless.

The film is very silly, staged, and even over the top at times. But, if you want to see a funny film with one of your favorite actors in the 90’s this is one to check out.

Music for the film is composed and arranged by The Meet Bros, Vicky and Hardik, and Arghya Banerjee and Sameer Tandon.
