“Anna” is an Indian biographical film based on the life of social activist, Kisan Baburao “Anna” Hazare. Truly a story of a patriot who loved his people and his country.
As the trailer depicts, Anna “is an uncommon journey of a common man.”
Anna is from the village of Ralegan Siddhi, Maharashtra. This village even today is an example of social and environmental stewardship. He was given an award, the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 1992 for his social work by using this village as an example for others to follow. He was key in pursuing not only the investigations of government corruption but the prosecution of those involved. He lead by example, even to the point of fasting by doing a hunger strike until laws were passed in regards to the wide-spread corruption in India. He has won awards for being one of the most influential people in Mumbai.
His name “Anna” which he took on later actually means Father. That is what He has been to many in India. He goes by Anna Hazare or Kisan Baburao Hazare.
This movie tells the story of a man who changed the nation of India. He was an inspiration to many. Revolutionizing the country of India with his cause. His causes included addressing and forming of anti-corruption laws. As well as community development assistance for those in rural areas. He has also organized many local social justice movements also. It showcases the story of his incredible life up to that point and what led him to his mindset of wanting to change the way things had always been done. His experiences as a child and as a solider in war. This film shares his struggles, trials, and his vision for a better world. Following, the ultimate example of Ghandi and his teachings. A story that had to be told. Sharing how even one person can make a world of difference in their community, country and ultimately the world. A story of one man’s hope and passion and how it changed a whole country!
