This unique series, curated by the global education nonprofit Room to Read, aims to promote gender equality and literacy in low-income communities, recognizing the transformative power of education for women. The six-episode short film series features the stories of six girls from disadvantaged backgrounds in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, and Vietnam. These girls navigate various challenges specific to their lives and learn to harness their inner strength to advocate for themselves and shape their futures through vital life skills.
Utilizing a blend of animation and live-action documentary, the series explores themes like climate justice, financial literacy, food insecurity, child marriage, discrimination, menstruation, and sexual harassment. In anticipation of International Women’s Day, ‘She Creates Change’ will premiere on March 8, 15, and 22 in Asia, with plans to be featured in prestigious film festivals such as Tribeca, Manchester Animation Festival, London Short Film Festival, and the British Animation Awards.
