Noor Movie Review

“Noor” is a dramatic comedy film. “One girl, Many Moods” is the tagline for the film.

This story follows a young reporter. Noor Roy Chaudaury who is trying to get her life together. She is highly driven and ambitious. She knows what she wants in her work life at least if she doesn’t have the rest figured out.  The films shows how Noor copes with being in a new, big city like Mumbai. Everything is going normal in her life even though it seems a mess. Her home life is a mess.

When suddenly, everything changes for her when she accidently witnesses some criminal activity. This has startling consequences not only for her life but those around her as well.  So, she has, in fact, found a story to tell. However, as she follows this story and she gets more involved she begins to see just how dangerous telling this story might be. It really explores the hard work, commitment, and even the danger that can come along with being a journalist in today’s world. The film showcases the danger of a city like Mumbai including its criminal activities as well.

The movie is based on Saba Imtiaz’s book, “Karachi, You’re Killing Me!” this was her first novel. Imtiaz, is a Pakistani author, critic, and screenwriter. She is also the screenwriter for the 2015 film Dekh Magar Pyar Se. The book has received good reception believing that the movie also will.

Noor follows along the same path as the book the life of a 20 something who is finding her way in the world. Along, the way trying her best to find a good match and lover for her. She does finally meet a guy who is a photographer but he seems too good to be true.

The stunningly beautiful Sunny Leone even graces the films audiences with a surprise cameo.

The film isn’t all drama and tragedy but includes some funny moments as well.

Music for “Noor” is composed by Ammal Malik. This is Malik’s second film as the principal composer. With the background score by Naren Chandavarkar and Benedict Taylor. The lyrics are written by Manoj Muntashir and Kumaar. The soundtrack has seven songs on it that take you along a journey with the movie.

Filming took place last summer at the RK Studios located in Mumbai. It was a very quick shoot as well just about a month.

A good movie to look into the life of the new generation of millennials. Focusing on how they deal with approach life, love, and career.
