Kangana Ranaut Sells Bandra Bungalow Amidst Film Release Delays
Actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has once again grabbed the headlines, this time for selling her luxurious bungalow in Mumbai’s posh Bandra area. The sale of her property coincides with the delays faced by her highly-anticipated film, “Emergency,” due to complications with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
The Hindustan Times reported that Kangana successfully sold her bungalow located in the Pali Hill area of Bandra for a whopping Rs 32 crores. The deal was finalized on September 5, 2024.
Kangana had acquired the property back in September 2017 for Rs 20 crores, which spans a built-up area of 3,075 square feet and includes a parking space measuring 565 square feet. The buyer, Shweta Bathija, a partner at Kamalini Holdings in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, completed the transaction, involving a hefty stamp duty of Rs 1.92 crores and a registration fee of Rs 30,000. Property registration documents accessed by Zapkey revealed these details.
Despite the sale, Kangana has chosen to remain silent about this significant development. Notably, her bungalow has been at the center of controversy before when the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished parts of the property in 2020, citing illegal construction. Kangana claimed that the action was politically motivated due to her public feud with the Shiv Sena-led Maharashtra government at the time.
On the professional front, Kangana is gearing up for the release of her film “Emergency,” initially scheduled for September 6. However, the movie has faced criticism from various Sikh organizations and delays in obtaining certification from the CBFC. Although the film recently secured a UA certificate, the board has yet to hand it over to the makers due to legal issues.
Kangana Ranaut’s Property Sale and Controversies
The sale of Kangana Ranaut’s bungalow in Bandra marks a significant financial transaction, with Shweta Bathija emerging as the purchaser. This move comes amidst ongoing disputes surrounding the release of “Emergency” and past controversies related to the property.
In 2020, the BMC’s demolition of parts of Kangana’s bungalow due to alleged illegal construction sparked a heated debate. Kangana’s clashes with the political establishment at that time added fuel to the controversy, with the actress claiming victimization by the government.
Despite these challenges, Kangana has continued to focus on her film projects, including “Emergency.” The delays in the film’s release have added to the drama surrounding her recent property sale, keeping the spotlight firmly on the talented actress.
Upcoming Projects and Challenges for Kangana Ranaut
As Kangana eyes the release of “Emergency,” she faces not only certification hurdles but also public scrutiny over the movie’s sensitive content. The controversies surrounding the film have only added to the stakes for Kangana, who is known for her outspoken views and bold choices.
Kangana’s ability to navigate these challenges while maintaining her stance on various issues reflects her resilience and determination.
