Kangana Ranaut Alleges Misuse of Dark Web by Film Industry Professionals
Renowned Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has once again stirred controversy with her recent allegations regarding the dark web and its potential exploitation within the film industry. In light of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) recommendation for mandatory caller ID displays, Ranaut took to Instagram to voice her concerns about the darker side of the internet.
In a recent Instagram story, the outspoken Queen actress claimed that several “popular film personalities” are involved in nefarious activities on the dark web. These individuals are not just accessing illegal content but are also allegedly hacking into private communications such as WhatsApp and emails. While she refrained from naming specific celebrities, Ranaut emphasized the urgent need for authorities to take action against such unlawful practices. She stated, “Centre should address the dark web menace, as many prominent individuals could be exposed if a crackdown occurs.”
This is not the first time Ranaut has raised accusations related to misconduct within the film industry. In July 2023, she alleged that the “film mafia” hacked into her accounts, using her identity to perpetrate scams. Earlier, in February 2023, she hinted at being under surveillance by a well-known actor, insinuating leaks of her personal and professional information.
Despite the controversies surrounding Kangana Ranaut, the 36-year-old actress remains actively engaged in the film industry. Her recent film, Tejas, was released in theaters in October 2023. Furthermore, she is currently working on a prestigious directorial venture, Emergency, where she essays the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film is scheduled for release in 2024. In addition, a project alongside her Tanu Weds Manu co-star R Madhavan is also in the pipeline.
